AI, Social Media and the Future of Political Campaigning

Organized at the Harvard Kennedy School just a few days before the first round of the French Presidential elections and a year before the Cambridge Analytica – Facebook scandal came to the surface, this high level panel provided an unprecedented transatlantic conversation on how the new ecology of social media and machine learning algorithms have changed the way political campaigns are run. The conversation brought together leading regulators, practitioners and experts to discuss the impact of differences in practice and regulations in the U.S. vs Europe in the use of personal data, social media advertising, big data analytics, machine learning algorithms, and psychometric profiling for micro-targeting in the frame of political campaigns.
